The Global Fashion Summit: Shanghai Gala will take place on 7 November 2024, coinciding with the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Organized by Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) in partnership with Chinamind NEXT, this special edition will bring together local and international fashion leaders to discuss key sustainability issues during an exclusive gala dinner.
Driving Sustainability in Fashion at a Critical Time
Since its inception in Copenhagen in 2009, the Global Fashion Summit has become a pivotal platform for addressing pressing environmental, social, and ethical challenges within the fashion industry. With sustainability targets looming, this year’s theme, “Unlocking The Next Level,” emphasizes the need for collaborative action and evidence-based progress to drive impactful change. The Shanghai Gala will extend the discussions held at the Copenhagen edition in June, showcasing how the fashion industry can overcome barriers and achieve greater sustainability.
China’s Role in Global Fashion Transformation
As the world’s largest exporter of ready-made garments, accounting for 31.6% of the global market, China plays a crucial role in the fashion industry’s sustainability transformation. The Global Fashion Summit: Shanghai Gala aims to foster collaboration across the fashion value chain, address environmental and social concerns, bridge global market differences, and share innovative solutions.
Keynote Address at CIIE
The event precedes GFA’s participation in the CIIE on 8 November 2024, where Federica Marchionni, CEO of GFA, will deliver a keynote speech. Marchionni will discuss how innovation and emerging technologies can advance sustainability in the fashion sector and help meet climate goals.
Strengthening Global Collaboration
By uniting GFA’s global sustainability leadership with Chinamind NEXT’s influence in China, the event aims to inspire action, mobilize alliances, and create a shared vision of sustainability. The gala will also provide a unique platform for Chinese enterprises to expand internationally and for global brands to strengthen their presence in China.
Federica Marchionni, CEO of GFA, expressed excitement about the Shanghai event: “Global Fashion Summit: Shanghai Gala will lay the foundation for further activations in China and is a critical step in the industry’s journey to a net positive industry for people and the planet.”
Lynn Fu, CEO of Chinamind NEXT, added: “China plays a pivotal role in the global apparel and textiles market, and this event will open doors for further international collaboration and sustainable growth in fashion.”
