Global Digital Economy Conference 2024: Strengthening 'Five Major Platforms' to Highlight July 2-5 Event

The event was announced at a news conference on June 21, hosted by the Beijing Municipal People’s Government and the Cyberspace Administration of China.

Event Highlights and Objectives
Themed “Opening Up a New Era of Digital Intelligence, Sharing a New Digital Future,” GDEC 2024 aims to expand global cooperation in the digital economy. Pan Feng, Deputy Director of the Beijing Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, highlighted five major platforms to enhance the conference’s impact:

International Cooperation: Building a solid international cooperation platform to expand global partnerships in the digital economy. Following the success of the Global Digital Economy Partner City Cooperation Initiative, new partner cities will join this year.

Collaborative Development: Bridging the digital divide by enhancing services and expanding capacity, with forums such as “Face-to-Face Dialogue on Digital Economy between East and West China” and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Think Tank Forum.

Technological Innovation: Featuring a New Technology and Product Release Zone and over forty thematic subforums on topics like Internet 3.0 and digital governance. The “Digital Night” event will combine technology and art through AI.

Industrial Development: Promoting the integration of the digital and real economies, with a record number of participating enterprises. The conference will also release the White Paper on the Global Digital Economy.

Public Interaction: Expanding the conference’s influence through interactive events like the meta-universe product experience and the Digital Economy Immersive Experience Zone.

Significant Contributions
Leaders including Shu Bilei of the CPC Chaoyang District Committee and Zhao Junsheng of the China Association of Communication Enterprises provided updates on preparations for the event. The Lhasa sub-venue will highlight local digital economy developments.
