The 52nd HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, 17th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, and 24th Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair concluded at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracting around 82,000 buyers from 121 countries and regions. The events, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and jointly with Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd for the stationery fair, utilized a hybrid EXHIBITION+ model combining physical shows with online platforms like Click2Match for extended business matching until January 22.
Buyer demographics and market trends
Over 41,000 buyers attended the Toys & Games Fair, with 27,000 at the Baby Products Fair and 14,000 at the Stationery & School Supplies Fair. Key international markets included mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Korea, India, and the United States. Buyers from Macao, Vietnam, Belgium, Poland, and South Africa showed double-digit growth, reflecting Hong Kong’s role as a global trade hub connecting China with ASEAN and other regions.
Pop & Play pavilion and IP commercialization
The newly launched “Pop & Play” pavilion at the Toys & Games Fair attracted approximately 10,000 public visits and featured 150 trendy intellectual properties (IPs) from local and international brands. This initiative aimed to foster cross-industry collaboration, allowing Hong Kong toy brands to engage with global buyers and expand into international markets. Exhibitors reported connections with buyers from Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Dubai, Russia, and North America, highlighting the commercial potential of IPs in China and beyond.
Innovation and sustainability focus
Hong Kong exhibitor Eastcolight showcased self-developed artificial intelligence (AI) interactive story machines, with AI products projected to generate at least $1 million in annual sales. Sustainable consumption was emphasized through the Green Solutions green leaf label, displayed by over 400 exhibitors—double the number from 2024. A mainland Chinese supplier’s battery-free, hydraulic-powered eco-friendly toys drew interest, with a Spanish company planning a $1 million order, underscoring the growing demand for green products in global markets.
Happy Ageing and cross-sector opportunities
The introduction of the Happy Ageing label at the Toys & Games Fair addressed the growing market for toys designed for seniors, with exhibitors connecting with clients from mainland China, Germany, the Philippines, South Africa, and Spain. Cross-industry collaborations emerged, including partnerships with theme parks, loyalty programs, digital commerce platforms, and finance companies, driven by trends in IP-based premium items. The Baby Products Fair saw increased exhibitor participation in stroller zones, while European exhibitors like Sweden’s AXKID noted Hong Kong’s value as an innovation hub for reaching international customers.
The Asian Toy & Games Forum, themed “Empowering the Toy Industry for Global Success,” featured discussions on market outlooks and IP strategies, with speakers from Euromonitor International and Disney Consumer Products. The events reinforced Hong Kong’s position in facilitating trade between China and global markets, with exhibitors reporting significant business growth and orders from diverse regions.
