Macao’s Rua das Estalagens Gets a Boost from Sands China Entrepreneurship Programme

This initiative aims to revitalize the historic street by funding innovative business proposals from Macao residents.

Programme Success and Community Impact
The programme received 128 applications, with 120 meeting eligibility requirements. The rigorous selection process, which included three rounds of evaluations by a panel of judges, resulted in seven business plans being selected to receive subsidies. These subsidies, disbursed in four stages, can be up to twice the enterprises’ initial capital investment, capped at MOP 1 million. This support is in line with the Macao SAR government’s strategy to revive the local economy and promote sustainable development.

Highlights of the Selected Businesses

Café Fantart: A creative café specializing in puff pastries and baked goods, aiming to innovate the culture of egg tarts in Hong Kong and Macao.
Little Port: A retail shop focused on Portuguese specialties and souvenirs, aiming to make a significant impact on the souvenir market.
OLÁLÁ: A Macanese snacks takeaway shop, offering unique light meals that blend Chinese and Western ingredients.
Catfee Macau: A pet souvenir store themed around cats and Macao, promoting the “adopt, don’t shop” mentality.
Travessa Gelato: An Italian ice cream shop offering fresh and innovative flavors.
PanPan: A bakery combining Japanese and French baking techniques, specializing in high-quality sourdough products.
Voyage Thai Kitchen: A Thai restaurant focusing on affordable pricing and incorporating local cultural elements.

Future Prospects and Continued Support
Sands China plans to launch the second phase of the project based on the actual situation of the neighborhood and store operations. The company also emphasized its commitment to the F.I.T. programme, offering Financial Support, Invitational Matching, and Training and Development to local SMEs. This initiative reflects Sands China’s dedication to community revitalization, economic growth, and support for local entrepreneurs.

Recognitions and Awards
During the ceremony, a special Leading Role-model Enterprise for Community Revitalisation award was presented to Future Bright Holdings for their efforts in introducing diverse business elements to Rua das Estalagens.
