The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) will organize two pavilions at GITEX Global 2025, scheduled from October 13 to 17 in Dubai. This event, marking its 45th edition, is anticipated to draw over 200,000 attendees from more than 180 countries, highlighting global tech advancements in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, smart mobility, and greentech.
Twenty-two exhibitors from Hong Kong will present products and solutions in AI, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), and greentech. The pavilions will include pitching sessions and a networking dinner aimed at facilitating business connections in the Middle East, a region experiencing rapid growth and increasing interest from Hong Kong’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups.
Hong Kong’s Role in Global AI and Innovation
Daniel Lam, Regional Director of the Middle East and Africa at HKTDC, noted that Middle Eastern countries are advancing in AI by leveraging low-cost energy and capital. The Hong Kong Tech Pavilions aim to connect Hong Kong’s innovation and technology enterprises with international partners, supporting expansion into global markets and positioning Hong Kong as a gateway to China and Asia for investors.
In his latest Policy Address, Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee emphasized promoting AI and data science industries, identifying AI as a key driver for technological revolution and industrial transformation. Hong Kong’s strengths in scientific research, capital, data, and talent are expected to bolster its development as a global AI hub, with the number of startups in the city reaching a record 4,700 in 2024, according to InvestHK’s survey.
Exhibitor Highlights and Sustainability Focus
Exhibitors at the Hong Kong Tech Pavilions include the HKSAR Environmental Protection Department, which uses AI for environmental assessments and has developed an AI robot dog for air nuisance investigations, alongside efforts to build data repositories and monitoring systems for noise and wastewater. TradeMonday offers a generative AI SaaS platform for retail analytics, backed by venture capital from Hong Kong, Türkiye, and the US.
Chain Technology Development Co. Limited will showcase an award-winning Digital Twin solution integrating AI, IoT data, and spatial intelligence for architecture, engineering, construction, and smart city applications. Man Yue Electronics Company Limited, a manufacturer of electronic components, will highlight products focused on sustainability and carbon neutrality.
Additional Events and Networking Opportunities
HKSTP will lead another pavilion at Expand North Star in Dubai from October 12 to 15, featuring 10 park companies and participation in the Supernova Challenge pitching competition. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will also exhibit technological achievements at this event. To enhance international connections, HKTDC will host a networking dinner on October 14 with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai, expected to attract around 80 industry representatives, and organize 12 on-site pitching sessions for companies to present solutions to investors and agencies.
