Eco Expo Asia 2025 will take place from October 28 to 31 at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, with co-organization by the HKSAR Environment and Ecology Bureau. The event, themed ‘Green Innovations for Carbon Neutrality,’ marks its 20th edition and will include a virtual business matching platform, Click2Match, operating from October 21 to November 7. On October 31, a Public Day will offer free admission to encourage public engagement in sustainable practices.
Focus on China’s Green Policies and International Participation
The expo aligns with China’s climate commitments, including President Xi Jinping’s stated goal to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by 7-10% from peak levels by 2035, as highlighted in a UN address. HKSAR government policies, such as those in the 2025 Policy Address, emphasize green technology applications and low-carbon living, driving demand for environmental products. Over 300 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions will participate, with strong representation from Chinese mainland suppliers, ASEAN nations, and Belt and Road countries, facilitating global green trade and investment.
Exhibitor Highlights and Regional Collaborations
International pavilions from Korea and Italy will debut, showcasing solutions in air purification and waste management, while Norway, the Netherlands, and Canada return with previous successes. Chinese mainland participation includes groups from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other Greater Bay Area cities, alongside Guangxi, Hunan, Shanghai, and Inner Mongolia. The ANSO Environmental Technology Industry Alliance, led by the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations for the Belt and Road Regions, will feature 11 mainland enterprises presenting water and atmospheric technologies. In Hong Kong, a joint government pavilion with 11 bureaus and departments will display local green initiatives, supported by start-ups and organizations like the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.
Key Themes and Innovations on Display
The expo is structured around three main areas: Circular Economy and Waste Management, Green & Smart Mobility, and ESG-related Services. Exhibits include AI-powered smart sorting bins from Hong Kong’s Green AI Technology, waste-to-energy solutions from China Everbright Environment Group, and the world’s first commercialized sulfur-based flow battery by Luquos Energy. ESG services will feature tools like EnvAI for data analysis and AutoTwin for construction management, aimed at supporting Hong Kong’s development as a green finance hub. Research institutions and start-ups will present innovations such as carbon-negative building materials and marine habitat products.
Conferences and Forums on Environmental Issues
The Eco Asia Conference, a highlight of the event, will gather government representatives from the Chinese mainland and Belt and Road countries, along with global industry leaders, to discuss circular economy, net-zero built environments, and green mobility. Sessions include the launch of the Hong Kong Circular Built Environment Guidebook and forums on hydrogen economy and overseas market expansion. Additional activities include the FHKI Q-Mark Low Carbon Restaurant Award and startup forums to promote environmental business growth and regional cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Public Day on October 31 will offer seminars, workshops, and a Green Mart to educate visitors on sustainable lifestyles, featuring talks from environmental influencers and hands-on activities. The expo aims to foster collaboration among governments, industries, and communities to advance carbon neutrality and green economic development in China and beyond.
