14th China International Patent Fair is set to take place in Dalian International Conference Center, Liaoning province, from Oct 13 to 15.

The 14th China International Patent Fair is scheduled to take place in Dalian, located in Northeast China’s Liaoning province, from October 13 to 15, 2025. This event aims to establish itself as a global, specialized, and market-oriented platform for intellectual property (IP) and innovation. For the first time, it will incorporate the former China (Wuxi) International Design Expo, creating a combined exhibition to broaden its scope and impact.

Event Structure and Key Components

The fair will feature three main components: an opening ceremony, exhibitions, and supporting activities. The opening ceremony will include the presentation of the 25th WIPO-CNIPA Award for Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention and Industrial Design, jointly awarded by the World Intellectual Property Organization and the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The on-site exhibition will cover 20,000 square meters and include eight sections, such as the Chinese patent award zone, thematic exhibition zone, and zones for key industries, patented technology, IP operations, regional displays, geographical indications, and industrial design. Over 30 supporting events are planned, including policy interpretation sessions, seminars, roadshows, and business matchmaking activities.

Focus on Innovation and Regional Development

Hosted by CNIPA and organized by the Dalian city government, the fair is a premier national event in China’s IP sector with international influence. Its location in Dalian underscores efforts to revitalize Northeast China’s economy and test the city’s innovation ecosystem. Dalian officials have emphasized high-level planning and preparation, with all tasks progressing as scheduled. More than 300 organizations have registered for the exhibition zones, with participation expected to grow, highlighting the event’s role in connecting innovators.

Industry Sectors and Participant Diversity

The fair will spotlight four key sectors: energy and chemicals, high-end manufacturing, modern marine industry, and life sciences. It aims to assemble key players and cutting-edge patented technologies from across the industry chain to provide high-value solutions. Confirmed participants include international organizations like the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and Nikken Sekkei, major Chinese companies such as China Mobile, CGN, Sinopec, Tencent, and BYD, as well as Liaoning-based enterprises like Hengli Petrochemical and Ansteel. Academic institutions, including Macao Polytechnic University, Dalian University of Technology, and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, will also be represented.

Enhancing Patent Commercialization and Transactions

A key focus of the fair is bridging the gap between supply and demand to cultivate a new ecosystem for patent transactions. More than 30 themed events across the four industrial sectors will advance patent commercialization, including seminars on IP operations and state-owned intellectual assets, roadshows for award-winning projects, and product launches in areas like food inspection robotics. In advance, 80 specific technical challenges and patent needs from Dalian-based businesses have been collected to facilitate efficient matchmaking. An online platform supports year-round collaboration, while on-site services integrate over 30 professional institutions offering IP trading, valuation, legal consultancy, and financing.

The event will be held at the Dalian International Conference Center, providing dedicated spaces for meetings and presentations with panoramic sea views to enhance participant engagement. A centralized press area will be available to support comprehensive media coverage, ensuring broad dissemination of developments in China’s IP landscape.
