Chengdu, the vibrant capital of Southwest China’s Sichuan province, hosted a matchmaking event for scientific and technological achievements on November 18, attracting participants from over 500 prestigious universities, research institutions, technology enterprises, financial organizations, and technology transfer agencies. The event aimed to build a robust platform for connecting technology suppliers with those seeking innovative solutions, accelerating the transformation of scientific discoveries into real-world applications.

Key Highlights of the Event

The event saw over 400 scientific and technological breakthroughs unveiled by leading institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Science and Technology of China, Sichuan University, and the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Among the achievements were cutting-edge solutions in electronic information, intelligent manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, green energy, and AI technologies.

Strategic Partnerships and Investments

The Chengdu city government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the City University of Hong Kong to deepen ties in technology transformation, innovation platform development, and talent cultivation. Additionally, Chengdu’s districts and counties formalized agreements for 17 transformation projects with universities, research institutes, and enterprises.

One standout project is the collaboration between Xinghan Hangyu Technology Co Ltd and Chengdu’s Longquanyi district. With a 4 billion yuan ($552 million) investment, the initiative will establish a headquarters for reusable liquid-propellant carrier rocket development, focusing on research, manufacturing, and liquid-propellant rocket engines. Duan Tao, deputy general manager of Xinghan Hangyu Technology, emphasized that Chengdu’s dynamic innovation environment was a decisive factor in choosing the city for this groundbreaking project.

Innovative Roadshows and Industry Focus

The event featured over 30 research teams conducting roadshows to showcase projects across diverse industries, including:

  • Electronic Information
  • Pharmaceuticals and Health
  • Aerospace Technologies
  • Green and Low-Carbon Solutions
  • New Materials and Hydrogen Energy

One particularly promising presentation was the low-orbit broadband satellite terminal project by Chengdu Zhongkewei Information Technology Research Institute Co Ltd. The project garnered significant attention, with numerous potential partners expressing interest in collaborating to build a comprehensive industrial chain.

Chengdu’s Commitment to Innovation

Officials from the Chengdu Science and Technology Bureau announced plans to hold regular matchmaking events, aiming to consolidate domestic and international innovation resources. These initiatives will foster a global marketplace for technology transactions, positioning Chengdu as a key hub for scientific and technological advancements.
