137th Canton Fair Promotes Innovation and Trade in Hong Kong and Macao

The 137th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) is set to launch on April 15, 2025, in Guangzhou, following two high-profile promotion conferences in Hong Kong and Macao on March 18–19. These events underscored the Fair’s role in fostering international trade collaboration and advancing the economic integration of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Hong Kong Promotion Conference: Bridging Global Markets

The Hong Kong Spring Reception and Canton Fair Promotion Conference on March 18 drew 260+ attendees, including representatives from:

  • Hong Kong Trade and Industry Department
  • 6 major Hong Kong chambers of commerce
  • 21 foreign chambers of commerce
  • 17 multinational corporations
  • Legislative Council members and media partners

Dr. Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong, emphasized the Canton Fair’s critical role in helping Hong Kong businesses access Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) markets and emerging economies. He highlighted the Fair as a gateway for showcasing Hong Kong’s expertise in trade, logistics, and innovation.

Macao Promotion Conference: Spotlighting Regional Synergy

The Macao Spring Reception on March 19 welcomed 90+ guests, including officials from:

  • Macao SAR’s Economic Affairs Department
  • Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT)
  • 9 business associations and 17 exhibitors

Xu Lemin, Deputy Secretary of the Macao Chamber of Commerce, urged local enterprises to leverage the Fair to promote “Made in Macao” and “Designed in Macao” brands. She emphasized the strategic advantages of the Macao-Hengqin collaborative zone to drive regional economic growth and global visibility.
