The 14th Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) will take place on November 18-19, 2024, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), this year’s event is themed “Shaping the Future of Supply Chains: Resilience and Sustainability.” ALMAC 2024 will address global challenges, promoting Hong Kong’s role as a key international shipping and aviation hub.

ALMAC 2024: Bringing Together Global Industry Leaders

Expected to draw over 2,000 participants from more than 30 countries, the conference will feature around 80 distinguished speakers. Key government officials from ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam, will join industry experts and international stakeholders, reinforcing Hong Kong’s status as a “super-connector” in global trade.

Stephen Liang, Assistant Executive Director of HKTDC, emphasized Hong Kong’s strength in the global logistics sector: “This year’s ALMAC underscores Hong Kong’s role in fostering international business connections and offering high-value supply chain solutions.”

Key Trends for 2024: Supply Chain Diversification, Sustainability, and Innovation

With a rapidly evolving global landscape, ALMAC 2024 will focus on three primary industry trends: supply chain diversification, sustainability and green energy, and innovation through advanced technology.

  1. Supply Chain Diversification: To mitigate risks, businesses are shifting to multiple trade routes. The forum will feature a panel on “Navigating New Trade Lines for Mitigating Disruptions,” with insights from leading figures in logistics, including Wilson Kwong of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited and Delia Sun, Global Head of Supply Chain at DKSH.
  2. Sustainability and Green Energy: Aligned with Hong Kong’s vision for a green maritime sector, the “Green Energy Forum: Energy Transition towards Net Zero Emissions” will explore strategies for cleaner supply chain operations. Industry leaders like Scott Childress from UPS and Marcella Franchi from Haffner Energy will discuss sustainable energy solutions for logistics.
  3. Innovation and Technology: From artificial intelligence to robotics, advanced technologies are transforming logistics. ALMAC will showcase AI-driven tools, big data applications, and automation technologies that enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Exclusive Thematic Sessions and Workshops

ALMAC 2024 will host 20 thematic forums and workshops, providing a comprehensive view of current trends and practical applications in logistics:

  • Halal Logistics Integration: A new workshop on “Seamless Integration of Halal Logistics in the Global Halal Supply Chain” will guide businesses in achieving halal compliance across logistics practices.
  • E-commerce and Youth Development: Addressing the rising importance of e-commerce, ALMAC will offer workshops on this topic, along with youth-focused sessions to attract the next generation of logistics talent.

Highlighting Emerging Talent with the NextGen Logistician Awards

Aiming to inspire future industry leaders, ALMAC will feature the Hong Kong’s NextGen Logistician Awards, recognizing young professionals who demonstrate excellence in smart, sustainable logistics solutions. The awards ceremony, supported by the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council, will honor rising talents shaping the future of logistics.

Showcasing Innovations with Over 90 Exhibitors

ALMAC will feature 90 exhibitors across three zones—Logtech Salon, Supply Chain Management and Logistics Services, and Maritime and Port Services. The Logtech Salon will spotlight the latest in AI, big data, and cloud solutions. Major players like Cathay Cargo Terminal, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, and the Asia Airfreight Terminal will also showcase innovations in supply chain technology.

Business Matching for Greater Global Collaboration

ALMAC 2024 will offer targeted business matching sessions to connect shippers, logistics providers, and service companies, creating opportunities for collaboration and industry growth.

The 14th ALMAC is set to be a premier event for logistics professionals, offering insights into sustainable, resilient supply chains while emphasizing Hong Kong’s position as a critical global trade hub.
