The 16th HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair is set to take place from November 7-9, 2024, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The event will showcase a wide range of fine wines, spirits, and related products from across the globe, attracting both trade visitors and buyers. With over 600 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions, this year’s event promises a diverse selection of drinks, reflecting the vibrant international wine and spirits industry.
Boosting the Wine and Spirits Industry
As part of Hong Kong's strategy to promote liquor trade, a recent reduction in the liquor duty rate—announced during the city's latest Policy Address—will benefit high-value-added industries like wine and spirits. The Wine & Spirits Fair aims to take advantage of this initiative, opening doors to new business opportunities.
Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), highlighted the importance of this year's event: “With a growing appreciation for sophisticated wines, we’re offering a diverse range of selections to elevate tasting experiences and expand the industry. The increasing representation of Chinese baijiu and international spirits underscores Hong Kong's role as a key trade hub.” Participation from Mainland China has grown by 60% in scale compared to last year.
A Global Showcase of Fine Wines and Spirits
The fair will feature an impressive array of wines and spirits from both old-world and new-world producers. Visitors can expect everything from Chinese baijiu and Japanese sake to vodka and brandy. The event will also introduce standout products such as:
- Azienda Agricola Sciara 760 Metri Etna Rosso, produced by Stef Yim, Hong Kong’s first winemaker in Sicily, Italy.
- Zhenjiu, a high-end Chinese baijiu from Guizhou, China, known for its rich and full-bodied flavor.
- Clonakilty Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, matured on the Atlantic coastline, offering unique flavors of vanilla, toffee apple, and dark chocolate.
- Wabi Sabi Gin, created by Japan's pioneering female spirits entrepreneur, featuring 13 botanicals for a complex taste.
In addition to the drinks, the Friends of Wine Zone will offer a variety of gourmet foods designed to complement the wines, with exhibitors such as the Asia Wine Service & Education Centre (AWSEC) introducing their services.
Expert-Led Seminars and Trend Discussions
A wide range of conferences, tasting sessions, and seminars will be hosted by renowned Masters of Wine, sommeliers, and industry professionals. These sessions will cover topics such as emerging market trends and the latest innovations in wine and spirits.
One of the highlights is the Sommelier's Picks, featuring selections from top sommeliers like Arnaud Bardary MS, Carlito Chiu, and Reeze Choi, providing insights into their favorite wine choices. Additionally, Master of Wine Debra Meiburg will lead a conference focused on the drinking preferences of Generation Z and millennials.

Public Day: Wine Lovers Rejoice
On November 9, the final day of the event, the Wine Fiesta Zone will open to the public, allowing ticket holders aged 18 and above to sample and purchase a variety of wines and spirits. Special ticket prices, starting at HK$99, will offer access to a day filled with tasting experiences, seminars, and even a Cocktail Festival featuring a signature drink crafted by Lan Kwai Fong representatives.
