International Forum on Industrial Civilization Opens in Shanghai

In 2023, the value-added of China’s industry reached 39.9 trillion yuan, spanning all categories in the United Nations Industrial Classification. Zhuang Mudi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, spoke about Shanghai’s efforts to promote new industrialization and support the city’s manufacturing power strategy. He highlighted the importance of building a robust industrial image and spirit in Shanghai as it continues to advance its industrial capabilities.

Shanghai Declaration: A Commitment to Global Industrial Development
The Shanghai Declaration of the International Forum on Industrial Civilization was unveiled at the event. The Declaration focuses on international cooperation, technological innovation, and industrial upgrading, emphasizing the crucial role of industrial museums and cultural heritage in preserving and advancing industrial civilization.
Wu Jincheng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Cheng Peng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Municipal Economy and Informatization, and Sun Xing, Deputy Director General of the Industrial Culture Development Center, jointly announced the Declaration. It serves as a commitment to fostering a new era of industrial development characterized by global collaboration and innovation.

Insights from Global Industry Leaders
The forum featured discussions from global industry leaders such as Liu Zhifei, Vice President of Corning Incorporated, and Vikram Channa, Vice President of Warner Bros. Discovery. Their insights covered topics such as green innovation, digital intelligence, and the future of industrial development.
Sun Ming, Vice President of the Institute of Contemporary China and World Studies, released the “China Industry: Green Wisdom and Winning New Global Image” report, assessing the international perception of China’s industrial development and its global impact.
