The 138th China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, commenced on October 15 in Guangzhou, China. As of October 13, pre-registrations exceeded 240,000 buyers from 218 markets, marking a 10% increase from the previous session. Notably, there was significant growth in attendance from the European Union, the United States, and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, reflecting the event’s expanding global reach.
This session highlights innovation as a core theme, with a record 32,000 exhibitors, including approximately 3,600 first-time participants. Over 600 new collection events are being introduced, with 63% of products incorporating new technologies and 48% featuring functional upgrades. These elements aim to inject fresh vitality into the global marketplace and support China’s export-driven economy.
Smart Technology Enhancements
Smart technology is redefining the buyer experience at the Canton Fair through fully upgraded navigation services. Four intelligent tools have been introduced: booth navigation, complex guide systems, an AI assistant, and smart direction kiosks. These innovations enable one-click navigation across the exhibition, improving efficiency and convenience for international buyers exploring China’s manufacturing and trade offerings.
New Focus on Healthcare and Sustainability
A dedicated Smart Healthcare Zone will debut in Phase 3 from October 31 to November 4, featuring 47 leading enterprises. This zone showcases cutting-edge innovations such as medical robots and intelligent diagnostic systems, aimed at fostering new growth engines for foreign trade and strengthening the global healthcare supply chain. It aligns with China’s push to advance its high-tech sectors and international collaboration.
Sustainability is another key focus, with over one million green and low-carbon products on display. The fair has launched a modular booth construction pilot using reusable components to reduce setup time, lower costs, and minimize environmental impact. This initiative supports China’s broader environmental goals and the global shift towards sustainable trade practices.
By integrating innovation, intelligence, and sustainability, the 138th Canton Fair reinforces its role as a critical platform for connecting China with global markets through trade and technology. The event underscores Guangzhou’s position as a hub for international business and China’s ongoing efforts to drive economic growth through exports and foreign investment.
