34th Hong Kong Book Fair Attracts Nearly 1 Million Visitors

Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the event featured 760 exhibitors and offered a plethora of activities and interactive experiences. The fairs saw a surge in visitors from Mainland China, especially during the weekend, significantly boosting local consumption.

Highlights of the Events
Literary and Cultural Activities: The Book Fair spotlighted Film and TV Literature, attracting book enthusiasts to its seminars and exhibits. Renowned authors from Mainland China, like those in the Renowned Writers Seminar Series, captivated audiences, enhancing literary exchange.
Visitor Spending: According to a survey, the average spending of Book Fair visitors was HK$912, accounting for 74% of their annual print book expenditure. Popular book categories included fiction, comics, and children’s books.
Sports and Leisure Expo: The Sports and Leisure Expo featured various sports and leisure products, including a family-friendly zipline and demonstrations by the Tai Chi Robot. Activities aimed at cheering on Hong Kong athletes for the Paris Olympics were a major draw.
World of Snacks: The World of Snacks showcased over 1,200 snacks, offering a range of flavors from around the world. Cooling treats like ice cream were particularly popular, helping visitors beat the summer heat.

Boosting Local Economy
The three expos are part of HKTDC’s strategy to stimulate the local economy. Upcoming events include the Hong Kong International Tea Fair, Food Expo PRO, and more, aiming to continue the momentum of boosting local and international trade.

Future Events and Initiatives
HKTDC has planned a series of events for the second half of the year to continue driving economic growth and international trade in Hong Kong.
