The opening ceremony featured speeches by Wang Ting, Deputy Secretary of the Lin’gao County Committee, and Lin Moxie, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hainan Province, highlighting the county’s significant role in promoting fishing culture and contributing to the Hainan Free Trade Port.
The festival’s theme, “Sing Loudly by the Sea, Prosperous Fishing,” underscores Lin’gao’s deep connection to marine life and its commitment to sustainable fisheries. The event also marked the start of the fishing season, ending a three-and-a-half-month fishing ban, with over 500 fishing boats setting sail into the South China Sea.
Running until August 20, the festival includes various cultural and economic activities, such as an investment promotion conference, a poetry and music gathering, seafood tasting, and numerous recreational events like a fishing competition and beach volleyball.
