The 27th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), the 10th Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, and the 20th Eco Expo Asia concluded with strong international participation, attracting around 62,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions. These events, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and partners, served as key platforms for global trade, emphasizing Hong Kong’s role as a hub for lighting and environmental industries.
Survey Highlights Industry Optimism and Challenges
An independent survey of over 730 exhibitors and buyers at the lighting fairs revealed that 61% expect overall sales to grow in the next one to two years. Key growth drivers identified include AI (57%), smart city development (40%), and technological advancement (36%). Respondents were most optimistic about markets in ASEAN countries, India, and the Middle East. However, challenges such as global economic fluctuations, rising costs, and protectionist measures were noted, with 54% reporting minimal impact from US tariffs on their strategies.
Innovations in Lighting and Smart Technologies
The lighting fairs featured innovations from global brands, with the Hall of Connected Lighting showcasing smart lighting and IoT applications. For instance, Bweetech Electronics Technology from Shanghai secured an on-site order worth RMB 8 million from a Thai buyer, doubling last year’s sales, by demonstrating AI-integrated wireless smart lighting systems. Exhibitors from the Chinese Mainland, such as Ningbo Freelux Lighting, reported engaging with new buyers from Africa, Europe, and South America, highlighting the fairs’ role in expanding international trade networks.
Eco Expo Asia Promotes Green Business and ESG Focus
Eco Expo Asia, under the theme ‘Green Innovations for Carbon Neutrality‘, emphasized circular economy and ESG services, attracting increased buyer interest from Australia, Japan, and the US. A green enterprise from the Chinese Mainland stated that the expo serves as a ‘go global’ platform, helping capture opportunities in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with expectations of over 200% growth in overseas revenue. Local startups and exhibitors, supported by initiatives like the Belt and Road, reported generating significant leads and partnerships, such as a potential hydrogen storage deal valued at US$3–5 million with a Hungarian buyer.
Overall, the three fairs facilitated cross-industry opportunities, reinforcing Hong Kong’s position in global markets and underscoring the importance of Chinese innovation in driving sectors like smart lighting and environmental sustainability.
