Hong Kong International Optical Fair 2025

The 33rd Hong Kong International Optical Fair is scheduled for November 5-7, 2025, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organized by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association. This event will host more than 660 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, emphasizing innovations in eyewear design, technology, and sustainability. The fair aims to reinforce Hong Kong’s role as a global trading hub, with new pavilions from ASEAN and Zhejiang, and first-time participants from Indonesia, Russia, and Vietnam expanding its international reach.

Industry growth and export trends

Hong Kong’s eyewear exports reached HK$13.7 billion in the first eight months of 2025, with the European Union, United States, and Chinese Mainland as the top markets. Exports to the mainland surged by 23% year-on-year, underscoring the industry’s resilience amid global competition. The fair will feature group pavilions from key regions, including Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland (with delegations from Danyang, Zhejiang, and Yingtan), Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, showcasing strengths in design, technology, and quality. The debut ASEAN Pavilion, including Halal-certified products from Indonesia, highlights efforts to address cultural diversity and market needs.

Symposium and design competition

The 23rd Hong Kong International Optometric Symposium, themed ‘Age Well, See Well: Redefining Eye Care for the Golden Age,’ will be held on November 6, co-organized by HKTDC, The Hong Kong Optometric Association, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It will gather experts from Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom to discuss senior vision care, covering topics like age-related visual challenges and diabetic retinopathy. Accredited by the Optometrists Board of Hong Kong, the symposium offers up to six Continuing Professional Development hours. Additionally, the 25th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition, with the theme ‘Blending Tradition and Technology,’ will showcase entries in an Open Group and Student Group, promoting local innovation in eyewear design.

Featured innovations and market trends

Exhibitors will present products aligned with key trends: smart technology, eye health, functionality and design, and sustainability. Highlights include LAWK One smart eyewear from Hangzhou Lawaken Artificial Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd., integrating AR and AI functions, and OOley O-Goggle from OOley Care Co. Ltd., an eyecare solution developed at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
