Amid a shifting global economy, the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025 is gearing up for its 8th edition, reaffirming its role as a vital gateway for international enterprises looking to enter and expand in the Chinese market.
Since its launch, the CIIE has become more than just an exhibition hall. Many participants have transformed from exhibitors into long-term investors, while showcased products have successfully transitioned into market-ready goods.
One standout case is Novartis, which introduced its Radioligand Therapy (RLT) at the 4th CIIE. Thanks to the expo’s spillover effect, Novartis signed strategic agreements at the 7th CIIE with GE Healthcare China, Shanghai Pharmaceutical Holding, and Chongqing Pharmaceutical Holding to accelerate the rollout of RLT in China.
This year, the expo’s supply-demand matchmaking event spotlighted 22 “CIIE Babies” — products that made their debut at earlier expos and have since entered the Chinese market. Among them, two showcased their first post-launch appearance, further proving CIIE’s ability to turn exhibits into real-world solutions.
Other global healthcare leaders are also using the expo to drive growth in China. Boston Scientific has successfully transitioned several showcased products into the local market, while Johnson & Johnson will expand its booth to 700 square meters in 2025, featuring its MONARCH surgical robot and lung cancer therapy Rukobia®.
Hongqiao International Economic Forum: A Platform for Dialogue
Running alongside the CIIE, the 8th Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF) will be held under the theme “Opening Up for New Opportunities, Collaborating for a Shared Future.” The forum will host more than 20 sessions covering cooperation, innovation, development, and sharing.
International organizations such as UNICEF and UNIDO, along with government officials and industry leaders, are expected to participate. A highlight of this year’s HQF will be the release of the World Openness Report 2025, reinforcing the forum’s status as a premier platform for global dialogue and collaboration.
With preparations in full swing, the 8th CIIE and HQF promise to bring together innovators, policymakers, and businesses to explore new opportunities, deepen partnerships, and accelerate global economic cooperation.
