2024 International (Bozhou) TCM Expo Celebrates Tradition and Innovation

The 2024 International (Bozhou) Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Expo and the 40th National (Bozhou) TCM Trade Fair officially opened on September 9 in Bozhou, Anhui Province. As a hub for Traditional Chinese Medicine, Bozhou is committed to preserving its rich cultural heritage while embracing modern innovation, with the goal of establishing itself as the "World Capital of Traditional Chinese Medicine."

A Global Platform for TCM Innovation

Themed "TCM for a Healthier World" and emphasizing "Preserving Tradition, Innovating with Integrity," this year’s expo features 20 events across four key areas: culture, trade, academics, and tourism. The expo serves as a platform for advancing the modernization and industrialization of TCM, promoting high-quality growth and international collaboration in the field.

Bozhou’s efforts to enhance the development of TCM have already paid off, with the city’s modern TCM industry reaching an output of 113.55 billion yuan in the first half of 2024. This includes 23.64 billion yuan in pharmaceutical production from regulated companies, marking a 7.5% growth.

Key Announcements and Partnerships

The opening ceremony featured several major announcements, including the establishment of the RCEP TCM Industry Cooperation Council and the Bozhou Major Herbal Products Alliance, aimed at fostering international cooperation and expanding the reach of Chinese herbal products globally.

In recognition of excellence in the field, the 2024 China Association of TCM Science and Technology Award was presented, including the prestigious Hua Tuo TCM Award. Several experts were also honored with titles such as Hua Tuo Medical Experts, Hua Tuo TCM Inheritance Masters, and Hua Tuo TCM Inheritors, acknowledging their contributions to the preservation and advancement of TCM.

Bozhou also introduced new initiatives to push the boundaries of TCM innovation, including the launch of the Hua Tuo TCM Large Model and a global call for Modern TCM AI Solutions in Bozhou. These initiatives aim to integrate artificial intelligence with traditional practices, enhancing TCM’s global impact.
